Wintertime in Austin: The 20th Annual Live Nativity and Christmas Celebration is Just Around the Corner!

Austin is blanketed in snow and our quaint little town is once again big on holiday cheer and Christmas spirit! On December 15th at 6:00 pm, the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce and the citizens of Austin are hosting their annual Christmas celebration. This is always a festive evening and a great way to get into the holiday spirit. Following the Live Nativity, hot chocolate and cookies will be served at the Austin Fire House to warm everyone up and get in the mood for the Turkey raffle. Tickets for the raffle are available at local businesses in Austin, and are free for every $5.00 of merchandise bought (you MUST BE present to win.) We're also sponsoring a canned food drive for those who need extra help during the Holidays, so please bring your canned goods or non-perishable items to the Fire House before the Nativity. Take a Taste of Austin at "Prospectors Dream Wine Walk"

Yes, everyone has a lot of fun at this event! Plan a trip to Austin on September 12th for their annual Prospectors Dream Wine Walk. This is truly a unique experience where wine lovers can enjoy both a sip of wine and a taste of the town. The walk begins at 2:00 PM at the Austin Museum and continues on to several locations along the historic Main Street. A hay wagon will pick everyone up at 5:00 to take them to Stokes Castle for a sunset dinner. Following dinner, there'll be a toast with special souvenir wine glasses, then the ride back to town. It's time to take a taste of Austin!

Have a Blast in Austin on the 4th of July!

The Austin 4th of July celebration this year will include a parade, street events, and other special activities. At 10:00 am the parade begins at the Austin Museum and continues to the Bert T. Gandolfo Park. At 12:00 noon the Lions Club will be BBQing, and free hot dogs and hamburgers will be available. From 12:00 pm to 4 pm there will be a DJ and karaoke at the park presented by Mountain Sounds DJ. Old fashioned games including a sack race and egg toss will be held throughout the afternoon.

New Website for the Nevada Bed & Breakfast Guild

The Nevada Bed & Breakfast Guild has launched a new website, nevadabandb.com, that showcases the wide range of inns and lodges throughout rural and urban Nevada. The site highlights the thirteen member inns with a short history, description of the rooms, menus, local amenities, photos and links to the members' web sites. 

"The mission of the Nevada Bed & Breakfast Guild is to develop and encourage high-quality and uniquely-personalized standards of hospitality across Nevada," said Dee Helming, President of the Nevada Bed & Breakfast Guild. "Nevada's B&Bs allow visitors to acquaint themselves with the Silver State through more personal travel experiences that create lasting memories. The new website is a place to start building that experience."

A Brushwork Roundup: Western Paintings and Drawings by Craig Sheppard at the Austin Museum

Co-curated by Jim McCormick and Fred Reid, "A Brushwork Roundup: Western Paintings and Drawings by Craig Sheppard" features twenty-six works by Sheppard that reveal his abiding fascination with horses. Viewers can expect to be challenged by Sheppard’s variations on the theme of horse and rider. The artist reached back to earlier times in Nevada when it was the least urban of all the states. Today the exhibit will resonate with those who venture beyond urban limits and encounter still existent ranches, cowboys and wild horses on Nevada’s range land. Annual Easter Egg Coloring and Hunt in Austin!

The Austin Annual Easter egg hunt will be held once again, and is scheduled of Sunday, April 5, at 1:00 PM at the Austin Park. We will be dying eggs Saturday at the Fire House at 1:00 pm for anyone  that wants to come help! Everyone is welcome, and we look forward to seeing you at both events. Don’t Miss the Lincoln Highway Car Show in Austin, April 11th
